Solar tracker actuator: 24 V BLDC, up to 12000 N, IP65
What to check when you specify a linear actuator for a solar tracker, and the two Dreamfusion models built for outdoor duty.
What a solar tracker actuator must do
A tracker actuator tilts or rotates the panel table to follow the sun, so it moves under load every day and lives outdoors. That makes five numbers matter most.
- Load: the force at the actuator in your worst case, set by your tracker geometry and structural design
- Stroke: the travel needed between the end positions of the panel table
- Protection: sealing against dust and water, and the temperature range at your site
- Drive: a 24 V brushless motor has no brushes to wear, and Hall sensors give position feedback
- End positions: limit switches stop the rod at the ends of travel
The load and stroke come from your tracker design, and the structure itself is your design responsibility. Dreamfusion supplies the actuator, motor and controller, and can confirm the fit once you share the numbers.

Used on real solar tracker projects
Dreamfusion has delivered 1 MW of solar tracker solutions and has more than 2 MW in the current project pipeline. Our actuators are used on tracker structures in India.
What to send for an actuator quotation
- Load at the actuator and how it was estimated
- Stroke needed and the mounting geometry
- Supply voltage (our standard motors are 24 V)
- Quantity, and the destination country if you need export shipping
Lead time, minimum order quantity and pricing are confirmed in the quotation. Read the full range on the linear actuators page, or how to choose a linear actuator.
Solar tracker actuator questions, answered
Which solar tracker actuator should I choose, 12000 N or 7000 N?
It depends on the force at the actuator, which your tracker geometry, panel area and wind design set. Choose an actuator rated above your worst-case load. The DF-LA-SL650 (650 series) is rated for a 12000 N dynamic load with a 635 mm stroke, and the DF-LA-SL250 for 7000 N with a 250 mm stroke. Send your numbers and we will confirm.
Is the solar tracker actuator BLDC?
Yes. Both models use a 24 V BLDC motor with 3 Hall sensors and a controller of Dreamfusion's exclusive design.
What is the IP rating of the solar tracker actuator?
IP65, with an extruded aluminium profile tube (6063) housing in silver grey and synthetic paste base grease.
What operating temperature does the actuator support?
-10 °C to 55 °C for the actuator, and -10 °C to 65 °C for the motor, per the datasheets. If your site is outside that range, ask us.
Can I buy only the actuator for my own tracker?
Yes. The actuators are available on their own, and the stroke, end fittings, cable and controller interface can be customised for OEM projects.
Do you supply the complete solar tracker system?
Yes. See solar tracker systems for India: dual-axis with remote control, a single-axis option and retrofit of existing fixed panels.
