VIT Signs Accord With Vijaya Electronics To Produce Advanced DC Motor Technology

VIT Chennai Partners with Vijaya Electronics, a strategic partner of Dreamfusion Technologies Private Limited, to Develop Advanced PMBLDC Motor

Chennai, November 26, 2024: Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Chennai has entered into a strategic partnership with Vijaya Electronics, a strategic partner of Dreamfusion Technologies Private Limited, to develop an advanced Permanent Magnet Brushless DC (PMBLDC) motor. This collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement signed during a special ceremony on November 26, 2024.


Combining VIT's cutting-edge research expertise and Vijaya Electronics, a strategic partner of Dreamfusion Technologies Private Limited,' advanced manufacturing capabilities, the partnership aims to create a high-efficiency motor featuring low noise and superior performance. The innovation is expected to redefine standards in its target application sector.

The agreement-signing ceremony was attended by VIT’s Vice President G.V. Selvam, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. T. Thyagarajan, and Professor Lenin N C, the inventor of the motor. This industry-academia collaboration underscores a shared commitment to fostering technological innovation through research-driven product development.


The PMBLDC motor, a synchronous motor using permanent magnets instead of windings on the rotor, operates without brushes. This design eliminates friction losses, ensuring higher efficiency, better thermal management, and reduced maintenance needs. With no brushes to wear out, the motor promises a longer lifespan while being lighter and more compact than conventional induction motors.


Under this partnership, VIT Chennai will contribute its extensive research expertise in motor technology, while Vijaya Electronics, a strategic partner of Dreamfusion Technologies Private Limited, will leverage its production infrastructure to manufacture the motors at scale. The collaborative effort is poised to deliver a motor that excels in efficiency, reliability, and overall performance.
